Spring Editorial in Self Quatantine

Crazy times we are experiencing, that’s for sure! I am on self quarantine and looking to make the most of these days at home. Enjoying catching up with with old friends, and experiencing a sense of togetherness across boarders. Collectively we are realizing that we are really not individuals, but more so organisms which dependent on one another to stay alive. When I go to buy groceries, many smiles are exchanged with people I have never seen before in the moments when we realize the other is also making an effort to keep the 2m distance. Smiles with strangers: something unusaul in a city with almost 4 million inhabitants.

My hopes are high that we are at a major turning point in society, and when we have made it trough this challenge together the garments we wear will have won our love and appreciation back, and the businesses we support are the the small and local ones. The ones who fit our values, like those who are featured in this editorial.

TUNIKA DRESS: the Ukrainian slow fashion brand FRAMIORE is known for transforming traditional clothing from disappearing cultures into fashionable modern pieces. FRAMIORE was founded by a group of friends based in Ukraina, UK and Austria, hense the name is made from the combination of the word “friend” in many different languages. Their aims is to reflect cultural heritage without becoming ‘ethno fashion’. This summer collection is dedicated to Hmongs, and the winter collection which is in the making is dedicated to Uyghur people, who are in danger of extinction because of the “aggressive” integration policy of China.

This dress is made of 30% lyocell (Tencel™), 49% triacetate, 21% cotton. Price 300€

SHOES: 5 years old.

TRENCH COAT: Vintage Menzies-Dixon - check ebay for coats! This was a flea market find for 3€.

LEATHER BAGS: Each bag, purse and wallet is hand in the HESA atelier. Theresa Föhrenbacher, the designer, knows her handcraft and no piece is sent out without passing through her hands. She offers customizations and modifications for the vegetable tanned leather goods. Prices: Purse 245€ Shoulder bag: 395€

The fabrics on the table are from my fabric collection dating back to 2013 when I finished studying fashion design. Time will show what further uses they will have during quarantine.
